vintage party week: beach chic, wedding + men's fashion

Sorry for the delayed post. I'm a bit under the weather and am behind on all things!

Today's spotlight is on some additional vintage photos from my soon-to-be gone HOLIDAY collection. I think the high-waisted men's swimsuit is hysterical, and the men posing in their underwear together gets a laugh as well...not something you'd find in today's ads.

While I've always considered Frank Sinatra's style iconic, the magazine's critique of his attire back in the day reads "Hard to surpass for unadulterated sartorial horror. Despite his great charm, he epitomizes all that is wrong with American tailoring and the Hollywood point of view. The tie is loud, the hat nondescript, the shoulders, too wide-- the whole a depressing parody of a sport on a busman's holiday in Las Vegas."

vintage party week: fancy people & their parties

I go through binge and purge cycles of accumulating things. I'm in a cleaning out phase right now, and one of the first victims to go is my vintage HOLIDAY magazine collection. I do love them- all of them, but I feel they are ready to move into the home of another caring person.

As I bid adieu to my dear HOLIDAY's, I will share some of my favorite party-inspired images. Today I pay tribute to some of the fancy partying people of days past. I hope you enjoy!
