seeing...(clouds)

I think it was the top image (and this cold, rainy day) that started my tunnel vision for cloud-inspired things. I keep trying to figure out a way I can throw a party where it would be appropriate to create the cotton-y clouds- how fun would dozens of these hanging from a ceiling be? Perhaps a come knock the grey days away party in the dead of a Seattle (or Nashville, for that matter) winter? Perhaps a party that had rainbow-inspired items? I don't know. What I do know is me-likey.

nashville in bloom

I picked some flowers from our yard this morning, since the weather dipped from the high 70's yesterday, to the mid-50's today.I knew my pretty blooms would die with the cold weather slated for the rest of the week, so I decided to snip so I could enjoy them for at least a little bit. So much is in bloom- daffodils, forsythia, tulip magnolias, pear trees- it's all so lovely. Fresh flowers are such a mood lifter!

john derian + wayne thiebaud + maira kalman

The 'gateaux' plates by John Derian remind me of Wayne Thiebaud's iconic paintings. Mr. Thiebaud's paintings remind me of Maira Kalman's illustrated desserts. I would love to see an exhibition with this trio! From top: John Derian plates; gumballs, pie and cake paintings by Wayne Thiebaud; cake, cupcake and chocolate box illustrations by Maira Kalman.
