It's rare that I get to see the parties that are queried about in our reader question of the week. That's why I was thrilled when Rachel sent me pictures from her 'red balloon' party (see her original question right here). Apparently one of you lovely readers gave her the idea for these 'red balloon' finger sandwiches (= tomatoes on a toothpick) - brilliant! For more of Rachel's party, check out her blog.
Former co-workers posted on Facebook this morning that 4 more magazines are to fold- Gourmet, Modern Bride, Elegant Bride- and the saddest for me personally, Cookie! Confirmed right here. What is this world coming to? I'm afraid with as much as I love the blog world, we certainly are not helping things (but I know there are so many factors at work). I can only hope some of the better magazines will come back better then ever when our economy improves. 
While I won't go so far as to declare this paper straw week, I seem to be finding beautiful paper straw inspiration everywhere. Some loveliness from sweet paul. The photo feels reminiscent of last week's ice cream social.
