mini coated apples

I spotted this cute idea for mini caramel apples in Family Fun this month. The key to the technique is using a melon ball scoop on a regular-sized apple, then coating the 'exposed' part of the apple with caramel (or chocolate would be good, too!). I don't think the photo styling does the idea justice. How cute would these be lined up on a bright colored tray and passed around at a baby shower or birthday party?
